there are so many places to start I before we came on Chris said he thanked me for being in the hobby which I've I've literally been texting with my friends from home all morning trying to get them in

and beyond the talk about investments beyond the talk about enjoying sporting events while having your cards I also say to all of them that everyone in the hobby is

they're the smartest sports fans that I've talked to and they're the kindest sports fans that I talk to this is bigger than gamblers this is bigger than fantasy

I just want to know for someone that's been in it for a while what have this last year four or five months been for you to have the long game in your rear view but to experience what's going on now

the last four or five months in the hobby I don't think anybody saw it coming it's been a roller coaster ride we saw you know when when COVID-19 hit and it shocked the world you know it it put the hobby into a period of uncertainty that we've never seen before

and the results was an unprecedented unexpected surge in interest in sports cards I think you know people pointed to a lot of reasons why that happened but you know we saw cards of the marquee athletes five x six x since COVID-19 hit it's been exhilarating it's been terrifying it's been above all extremely fun

yeah everyone that I talk to from people that work at big institutions within cards whether that's grading or auction houses big collectors like yourself that really care people that are just kind of in it for the flip

I think everybody's kind of looking at each other and they're all going man I don't know how long this can last I talked about this with Josh last week that everyone's trying to predict the end of the bubble instead of enjoying it and and and being a part of it

it's how do you mix the the joy with the fear how do you do that well you did enjoy the ride we put out a podcast title that when the last dance document was going on in Michael Jordan cards were going crazy enjoy the ride is great advice but you know I'm bullish on sports cards and and the reason why is because I look at the fundamentals that have supported and made sports cards such a passionate you know hobby the hobby as we go and I think it's a good thing to do that

because when you get into it you really don't have any more hobbies it's it just becomes the hobby bro right and so my hobby right now is that I can walk into the post office and the lady goes good to see you again and I'm like man I am here way too much yeah exactly so I'm bullish on it because I look at you know what are the things that that make sports cards such a robust market

and it's you know first and foremost their nature is collectibles you know that's what sucked me in back when I came back to the hobby was just this this innate desire to want to own cards and and to want to connect back to you so like I came back in a Michael Jordan cards right and this will be a good example a lot of us who are in our 30s we talk about say got back what year 2016

2016 so a lot of us you know we're in our 30s or you know maybe a little more vintage in our 40s we watch Michael Jordan during his prime years and that was also a time great expansion for sports card and then a lot of us took a break from sports cards after the 90s
