of seven of Hollywood's biggest blockbusters

of not only the past decade but ever playing Steve

Rogers aka Captain America in Marvel's Captain America the First Avenger in 2011

the Avengers in 2012, Captain America the Winter Soldier in 2014,

Avengers Age of Ultron in 2015, Captain America Civil War in 2016, Avengers Infinity War in 2018, and Avengers End Game in 2019.

But before, during, and after his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he has also done all sorts of other interesting and impressive work in films like Danny Boyle's Sunshine in 2007, the Brothers Adam and Mark Casson's puncture in 2011 and Bong June Ho's snow piercer in 2013

On Broadway in a revival of Kenneth Lonergan's Lobby Hero in 2018.

And this year on Apple TV Plus's limited series Defending Jacob, on which he plays an assistant

district attorney who winds up on a case that leads him a bit too close to home for comfort.

I'm talking of course about Chris Evans.

Over the course of our conversation the 38 year old and I discussed his roots in the theater, the panic attacks that almost

made him abandon his film career in its infancy.

Why he said no to the part of Captain America many times before he finally said yes.

Why defending Jacob is just the sort of project he's been longing to be a part of for years,
