0:05.7	other right now. And I don't even think we're sure about why. Charlie Kirk is dead.
0:11.9	Charlie Kirk was murdered on a college campus doing in Utah what he thought was part of the answer,
0:21.9	which was getting people to prove him wrong,
0:26.9	to try to defend or defeat ideas with ideas in dialogue.
0:33.9	And he was killed for it.
0:36.0	And I don't even think we know what the problem is.
0:41.6	I know a lot of people are upset,
0:43.8	but a lot of people are upset for very different reasons.
0:48.3	And I watched it all happen the day before September 11th, and now I'm talking to you on September 11th
0:58.3	which has already been forgotten because sometimes it's all emotion and no signal. All noise, no signal.
1:14.2	So I watched and I wondered and I wanted to see what would kind of boil out of this.
1:26.5	And I've been up pretty much all night.
1:33.4	And here's what I see and I don't see.
1:37.8	The problem is not that Charlie Kirk was murdered.
1:46.0	The problem is not that a man was murdered for his ideas in America.
1:55.0	We're not new to the idea of people being killed for their ideas, even here.
2:03.6	Jesus was killed for his ideas.
2:06.6	He was nailed to a cross because of his ideas.
2:11.6	So we are very familiar with the reality, and we are very familiar with the potential power in that reality.
2:21.1	And my deep concern, my lament, my pain is not simply that Charlie Kirk is dead.
