Welcome to America Magazine's Conclave Podcast.

Now, the Cardinals have the day off today from their general congregation meetings,

but that doesn't mean that the news around the conclave is slowing down, not by any means.

Our Vatican correspondent, Gerard O'Connell, yesterday, reported that a non-voting cardinal,

so a cardinal who's over 80,

inside the general congregation meetings, but not going to be in the conclave, openly attacked

Pope Francis in that meeting, saying that Francis broke tradition by opening positions of governance

in the church to people who are not ordained. So a fascinating story broken by Jerry yesterday. We'll talk

through that and we'll talk through some of the other news out of the general congregations

and around the conclave. But then for our main conversation today, we're going to look at

what makes a cardinal papabile or popable, if you will. Just say papabule. Someone's someone who's name shows up on the many

lists of frontrunners that are circulating the internet and different media organizations.
