To be on a set path from A to B where there are no unexpected diversions, no bumps, no jarring turns.

Life, gentlemen, is not on a set path, and that makes life hard.

Podcasting can be the same way.

Sometimes you have a podcast that can go anywhere.

You might have a podcast called Billion Dollar Record Club,

where you basically just throw a dart at an album and talk about it,

and you don't know what you're going to get as you start to dig into the research,

and the episode takes you 12 hours to write,

and Dave looks at auctions while you perform your hard work,

and only 900 people subscribe and everyone,

I mean everyone you talk to says, oh yeah, I'm several episodes behind on that one.

Yeah, sometimes in podcasting, all you get is unexpected paths, bumps, and jarring turns.

But sometimes there's a train.
