Today's featured province is Guangdong (aka, Canton). After a quick overview of this heavily populated region, it's story time. I talk about the time I was almost robbed with a pair of scissors while taking a midnight nap, my first experience with Chinese beggars, and my first encounter with the Chinese police, that almost stopped my career in China even before it got started.

*Unbeaten is my story of being arrested, interrogated and deported from China in 2018: www.Unbeaten.vip

Finally, we tackle some new China Compass Q&A, followed by William Borden's account of the Guangdong "boat people" in 1904.

I'm your host Missionary Ben. This episode is being recorded from Lima, Peru, where I've lived off and on with my family for many years. My wife is from here. We served in China as missionaries for most of our adult lives, but we were in and out of Peru quite a bit as well, especially since just before the pandemic or so. And we've been here. We're here visiting just for a short visit this summer. I won't give too many details.

Guangdong province, Guangdong, and a little bit. Guangdong is also known as Canton,

1:35.8

Canton is the way a lot of people have learned

1:39.6

about that particular province,

1:41.2

but Guangdong is the Chinese name of that place.

1:45.6

And I'm going to talk about that in a minute and tie it in with a few different things, including

1:48.6

Peru.

1:49.6

But before we get into that, I want to give you a little bit of China's take on the assassination

1:55.8

attempt on former President Trump.

1:58.6

I was thinking about this during the last week or so since that incident and what what would China be saying

2:05.7

and I did some researching and some looking online and different things they didn't

2:08.7

look too hard I didn't really want to get into the nitty gritty of all the Chinese
