I'm your host Missionary Ben. This episode is being recorded from Lima, Peru, where I've lived off and on with my family for many years. My wife is from here. We served in China as missionaries for most of our adult lives, but we were in and out of Peru quite a bit as well, especially since just before the pandemic or so. And we've been here. We're here visiting just for a short visit this summer. I won't give too many details.

Again I'm trying to keep my identity a little bit under wraps, at least for anybody who's prying online from afar. Some of you I will have met and will meet at different

events and conferences including the Prodigal America Conference hopefully later

this year. And so it's good to be back and it's good to talk to you from

Lima Peru if you hear any ambient noise in the background it's almost impossible to

find a quiet place in a city of 10 to 12 million people with street noise and dogs barking and different

things around.

It's hard to find a completely quiet place.

I've done my best, but you might hear some background noises at some point or another. I want to start out

today's podcast. We're going to cover quite a bit of ground today. We're going to focus and talk a lot about

Guangdong province, Guangdong, and a little bit. Guangdong is also known as Canton,

Canton is the way a lot of people have learned

about that particular province,

but Guangdong is the Chinese name of that place.

And I'm going to talk about that in a minute and tie it in with a few different things, including

Peru.

But before we get into that, I want to give you a little bit of China's take on the assassination

attempt on former President Trump.
