In Northern Ireland, from the late 70s to the early 90s, the IRA killed over 40 alleged informers.

But the man who often found, tortured and sometimes killed these people on behalf of the IRA

was himself an informer, a secret British army agent with the codename Stakeknife.

Hello, today I'm joined by a trio of children's laureates, true superstars in their field,

whose names are synonymous with the wonderful literature that's inspired and educated in millions of young minds.

First created in 1999, the position is awarded every two years to an eminent

writer or illustrator of children's books and designed to celebrate outstanding achievement in

their field while thrusting them into the limelight to champion young reading. And what a field

to be the champion of, with over 16 million fiction books sold last year in print form alone.

Despite the increasing encroachment of high-tech toys,

books for children for now still seem to be selling like hotcakes.

Few.

To discuss the role of children's laureate, its future and its past,

I'm here with two much-lawed previous laureates

and the currently reigning Queen, Mallory Blackman,

who started her tenure last June.
