From the land of the free and the home of the chiefs, this is the

locked on chiefs podcast. Tyra Matthew is your AFC defensive player of the

month. This is Chris Clark from locked on chiefs as well as that this is all the happening on a non-read Friday

Because the Chiefs don't have a game and to have defensive player the month be named on the week that you get the buy and you don't have to play a playoff contest that really goes a long way in securing just what a factor he has been down the stretch.

I did some film on him on RGR this week as well so check out the

YouTube channel. Yeah he's playing fantastic football and obviously the loss of

one Thornhill is going to hurt for this defense but Tyvern

Matthew has been playing in an elite level all season long and I'm glad to see he's

getting defensive player of the month even though they technically got his

stats wrong. Oh, what they miss?

A pass defense and an interception.

He got two interceptions during the month of December, so they only gave him credit for one and

they gave, and they shorted him a past defense as well but regardless he has had a fantastic

month for Kansas City and it is fantastic it is great that they have him because they can play

them all over the field. Yeah and it's and it's really come through the last month and December was his month, but he had

started to pick it up a little bit before then.

I felt like the whole team came back from the buy in pretty good shape in Matthew particular and again we've talked

about this in the past the handing the handing off of understanding that you're comfortable

with Juan Thornhill behind you I think makes a big difference and allows him to do what he's done.

But this is instinct. This is him making plays and we've really seen him pick up the pace while not like

diminishing what he had been doing all season which is leading that secondary making sure people

understand their assignments and are getting lined up correctly.
