Summary

The Chiefs kicked aside some early sloppiness to blast the Washington Commanders with a dazzling second half performance that was near perfection.   The Chiefs ran it, Mahomes threw it and everybody got in on the action.  A pair of defenders go their first career interceptions putting away a struggling team that brought all they had.  KC is still in 3rd place in the AFC West but it's not a stretch to say the next three game (@Bills, @Denver, Colts) will determine the one seed in conference.    The governor of Kansas and the owner of the Chiefs both talked about stadium issues on Monday and it feels like nothing has gone anywhere.  Could somebody please do a deal and make a decision?    We'll revisit K-State's big win over KU Saturday and Mizzou resetting its season as a lot has changed in a short period of time.    Monday night's game 3 of the World Series was a 6 hour and 39 minute marathon that saw the Dodgers win in historic fashion in the 18th inning.   And wait until you hear what Shohei Ohtani did, the most incredible stat ever.    KU basketball has a rising star you need to know about and our Final Final updates you on the jewelry heist in Paris last week.

Well, the Chiefs were a little slow out of the gate on Monday night, but all is well in Kansas City as the Chiefs

0:21.3

roll the Washington Commanders 28 to 7 in a second half performance that looked an awful

0:26.1

lot like the previous three offensive games the Chiefs put together. And in so doing,

0:31.7

the NFL ties a record this week for the most games decided by 18 points or more in any week of the NFL season.

0:39.8

The Chiefs piling it on the commanders, as I mentioned, 287, and there was an awful lot of that in the league this week.

0:46.0

Nine games decided by 18 or more, and only one single score game, single digit score game in the entire NFL.

0:54.1

So so much for parity, although it certainly looked like a game that was exactly what

0:58.9

the NFL wants, a struggling team with a backup quarterback going on the road against what has

1:02.9

been the best team in football for a decade.

1:05.4

And it's tied 7-7 at the half.

1:07.5

It's pretty much everything anybody could have wanted for Monday night football,

1:11.4

unless you're a Chiefs fan. You wanted to see a quick start and a big lead, but the commanders

1:16.5

hung in there. The Chiefs made just enough mistakes to keep the commanders in the game.

1:21.5

We can't get too nitpicky over the interceptions to start the game by Patrick Mahomes because

1:27.2

he only had two all

1:28.2

season coming in and one of those.

1:30.2

Well, two of his four now are balls that went right through Travis Kelsey's hand.

1:34.4

So the replayed they showed on Monday night on that particular interception did look like he

1:39.3

was trying to throw it to Juju Smith-Schuster and Kelsey just kind of got in the way.

1:43.3

That was some sort of a cross-up, a continuation of a pattern, and Kelsey wasn't supposed to be there. So we'll chalk it up to that. I was watching, flipping around, and Jared Goff was over on the Manning cast during Monday Night Football, and he basically said, well, Mahomes smoked that ball. He just, he threw it too hard for where Kelsey was,
