The old adage in sports that stats are for losers did not quite apply to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday

as somehow they kept their season alive.

It's what they did in a game that

statistically the Chiefs dominated all over the place, which is shocking because as you were

watching this game, you didn't think the Chiefs were dominating anything. In the end, they do just

enough to win 2320. They didn't gain much. Everybody else pretty much won. They didn't gain anything in the playoff race, but the Chiefs are still alive. We can see light at the end of the tunnel with a schedule that gets lighter. The Cowboys game, we had all written down on Thursday. Thanksgiving Day is a win for the Chiefs. Doesn't look so easy now after the Cowboys. They really have shored up their defense, not completely, but it's way better than what it was.

They were down 21-0, just shocked in this game by the Eagles and came back and won 24-21.

So the Cowboys aren't the Cowboys we thought, as Patrick Mahomes will go home to Dallas to play the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day in a very meaningful game and a schedule that does get lighter. As I mentioned, they have the Titans left, they have the Raiders left. They have head-to-head games that can help them out in the playoff race, including the Chargers, who are currently a playoff team. And I'm just going to set the stage of where this thing is in the playoffs before we dissect what went right and what went wrong for the Chiefs in this game against the Colts

at Arrowhead on Sunday afternoon. The Texans, the Ravens, all won. So the Chiefs get no

help there. That's to be expected this time of year. You just have to keep winning. These

teams will lose, but there's a reason there's separation in the NFL. There's a reason that the top teams are seven and four and in the playoffs. They've been good at winning games. The chiefs have not been good at winning games. The chiefs at times have been good at playing football. They've done some really, really nice things, including a tremendous defensive effort against the Colts that will get overlooked. No question will get overlooked. What happened on Sunday? But they won that game like they did last year. They won because of

their defense. We'll get into that in a moment. But right now in the AFC, New England is the one seed.

Denver is the two. Indy falls to the three. Baltimore is winning its division via tiebreaker.

So they now become the four seed because if the season were over today, Baltimore

would win that division.

The Steelers did lose, which dropped them out in that division.

The Chargers at 7 and 4 are in.

Jacksonville wins.

They got pushed really hard by the Arizona Cardinals, but the Cardinals do what the Cardinals do,

and that has played just well
