Okay, I'm a child in the 70s, and I think on days like this with Laurie Lightfoot getting

historically trashed, and the elections, the first incumbent to be bounced out of office

in the first round, I think of Kat Stevens, and I think of the song, Morning is Broken.

Morning has broken, and it's so lovely, and there's meadows, and you think of birds and

thumper and a little bunny rabbit thumper before the hunters come.

And that's how it is.

Laurie Lightfoot is not mayor of Chicago, and she is done with public life as far as the

public is concerned.

She didn't even break what she got the last time around.

And so why?

Because she lost the confidence of the people in Chicago.

I was backing her, Jeff Carlin was back there, he used to show up on this podcast, we show

up and give hugs, and I know that that really pisses off the jackabens, literally, of

the Chicago Tribune, like, how dare you be friends with her?

Yeah, well, I might have been friends with her, but I'm not carrying water for her or

Brandon Johnson, like so many do there in the Chicago media.

So what happened?

Well, the George Floyd riots happened, she was a meme queen.

They were calling her superhero because she was on MSNBC, and she was all over TV and

MSNBC left us MSNBC, made her into some sort of little hero.
