This is CBS I in the world. I'm John Batcher with the columnist Elizabeth Peek at the

Hill at Fox News, Muchron Fox Business, recently writing columns also for the New York

Sun about awakening cities that would be Chicago, New York and other large cities, Washington,

DC from Woke and I understand the metaphor doesn't work if you're woke, why didn't you

do awaken? Well, the puzzle here is what to do with some anecdotes. One, the reversal

of fortune of the mayor of Chicago, Ms. Lightfoot, and now a contest between two players who

have different approaches to security in the streets of Chicago, a city that has lost

many headquarters of major corporations these last months and years because of security

issues and then returned to Washington, DC, which is a federal city and Congress has

wait there. The City Council passing a series of crime punishment recommendations that

take the very violent crime of carjacking and turn it into well in any event downgraded.

And this is reached not only to the Congress where there's a bill to reject the City Council's

idea of woke policing and woke crime and punishment, but also to the president who says that

he will not veto if the Senate goes through and vouchs safes this bill that has already

passed the House. Liz, you've written columns about this and it might be early days still

in woke, but it certainly looks like there's the idea that Chicago and Washington no longer

enjoy defund the police. Is that a positive?

Oh, I think it's definitely a positive. I mean, you have cities that are on their knees

right now trying to recover from the COVID shutdowns like New York, Chicago, Philadelphia,

DC, Portland, etc. where crime has made that recovery just very, very difficult. And, you

know, at the end of the day, John, we can all, you know, ring our hands about policies

about letting men, biological men, competed women's sports and other sort of foolish to
