Summary

We are now a world at war. The coronavirus is the enemy we all face. And we are all united in our fight against that enemy. The Dispatches is a new quick-hit pod hosted by Iraq war veteran, author and activist Paul Rieckhoff that gives you news and information you can use in the fight to protect those around you, kill the virus and help win the war. In less than 30 minutes.  The next edition of the Dispatch checks-in with the American celebrity Tom Colicchio. Former Host of Top Chef, Tom is the recipient of five James Beard Foundation Awards for his culinary achievements and is on the front lines right now advocating for restaurants and their workers. Colicchio joined us for a longer conversation in Episode 8 of Angry Americans--one of our earliest episodes and one that definitely set the bar. More than one month after our natio waged war against the virus, Tom is back to give us his update live from NY on how the restaurant industry is going to be impacted. He breaks down the federal relief loan programs and their conundrums, and gives insights for how to navigate the pending economic breakdowns we’re likely to see in the months to come. Tom talks community feeding centers and more ideas on how government can be more responsive in this crisis era. This Dispatch is packed with the same integrity, information, inspiration and impact you get from every episode of Angry Americans. The war is on. This is your update. This is your dispatch.  The Dispatch is a production of Righteous Media. Watch the Conversation: https://youtu.be/jN3BzrSkby8

All right, ladies and gentlemen, as a part of our ongoing series of dispatchpatches, I want to bring you engaging, important, inspiring leaders from the front lines of our fight on the coronavirus. And I'm very happy joining us right now. Our guest from episode eight on Angry America, it's almost a year ago right now. You joined us, the great and powerful Tom Colicchio. How are you, my friend? Good, Paul. How you doing?

I'm good, man. I'm so eager to talk to you because as soon as this whole thing hit, and I saw what was happening to the restaurant industry, I thought of you, and you were already, you know, taking action, doing what you do. You're a powerful activist. You're a great patriot. You're an entrepreneur, but maybe you could, first of all, tell us where you are and what it's like

where you are for you and the people around you. That's my first question. Maybe you can give us a sense of what it's like where you are. Yeah. So I live in Brooklyn and we stayed there for the first couple weeks. But we have a small little farmhouse out in Matatuck, Long Island. So it's on the North Fork of Long Island, a small little town. So it's pretty quiet out here. I came out here because, you know, I got a garden that I can at least tinker around and to take my mind off this. And it just gives the kids a little bit to, you know, get outside and run around. You know, Brooklyn was tough. The hardest thing about Brooklyn was it was so quiet and yet all night long you heard
