Thank you, David. Good to be with you.

It's great to be with you in real time. We've corresponded here and there, and it's really nice

to have a proper conversation with you. I wonder if you could begin by introducing

yourself where you are and what you do. I'm beaming to you from Southern California in the Ventura

River watershed and this is the traditional land of the Shumash where we live in work with Bartimae's cooperative ministries, which is 25 years old this year.

And our work is education, advocacy, and organizing at the intersection of gospel faith and social and ecological justice.

We do a pretty broad spectrum kinds of issue engagement,

both locally, regionally, nationally, and occasionally like this, internationally.

We describe our work as working at the intersection of seminary, sanctuary, streets, and soil,

trying to bring the best of those

pedagogies and practices to bear on our discipleship in the world.

And can you tell us a little bit about your faith journey, Chad?

What was the world that you grew up in, and how did your path take you to what you do now? I grew up in a

mixed class but economically upper middle class household about an hour and a half south of

where I live today in suburban Los Angeles, born in the mid-50s.

So I was just behind the curve of the great 60s surge of idealism and social justice.
