It's May 1957, spring evening in New York City.

Anna is at home, powdering her face.

She's getting ready for a night of work at the Club 82,

where she works with the drag queens and drag kings,

including her lover, Duke, aka Jackie.

She piles her hair on her head,

spits into her mascara powder, and cakes it onto her eyelashes. Then she heads from her apartment over to the club.

Uptown, the Prime Minister of the Underworld, and Anna's Confident in marital issues Frank Costello

is coming home from an evening meal to his swanky Central Park West

apartment. It's been a few short years since Anna went to Frank for help with Vido

right before she ratted Vido out in open court.

And Frank has been playing it cool ever since.

He might be one of the nation's top bosses and caught in a bit of a power

tug of war with veto, but the dignified mobster keeps his distance from any street-level

antics and doesn't even carry a gun.

Anna's also playing it cool, keeping a low profile since her failed maintenance

suit. In addition to running the 82, she's now also caring for a

grandson by her daughter Marie. She helps tuck him in before her evening's work

begins. Up on 72nd Street, Frank Costello enters the majestic apartments

this spring evening, still wearing his jacket and hat.

He steps into the lobby and a voice comes from behind.
