Summary

On today’s show, we breakdown the chaos in Atlanta on Wednesday that surrounded Anthony Edwards’ ejection and the weird technical foul that became a technical and a flagrant(?) on Karl-Anthony Towns. We discuss the Wolves on-going battle with referees and the role KAT plays in navigating that fine line. We also discuss Patrick Beverley’s ankle injury suffered in the first half and what his long-term future with the Wolves in Minnesota might look like. Trae Young scoring 30 in the second half also comes up. — The Ant ejection — Trying to distinguish what went into KAT not only being called for a technical but also a flagrant foul at the end of the 3rd quarter. — The Wolves on-going battle with the referees and KAT navigating what DLo called a “fine line” — Beverley’s ankle injury and a season of a few nagging ailments, and looking at the proposition of signing Beverley long-term this summer — How Trae exploited the Wolves defensive coverages in a way only he really can Learn more about your ad choices. Coming at your Wednesday night after a very, very bizarre game in Atlanta for the Wolves.

0:24.7

A game of the Wolves were winning by 12 at halftime.

0:27.2

In a game, they were still winning by two when Anthony Edwards got ejected with six minutes left in the third quarter.

0:34.2

If you watch the game, you saw that things totally unraveled from there for the wolves and we'll of course get into how they unraveled.

0:40.3

But the unraveling was both on the refs for losing control of the game, even if they felt like they made the right calls.

0:48.0

But also on the wolves for letting the rope slip, never stopping the hawks momentum after that point.

0:53.6

And really, the wolves never played much defense to stop the hawks momentum after that point. And really, those never played much

0:55.6

defense to stop the hawks momentum in general tonight. It's hard to talk to talk about all this.

1:04.2

It's complicated, the ant technical, the cat flagrant. I'm probably just going to use Finch and Cat

1:09.4

and Delo's postgame audio to kind of let them explain what they saw out there.

1:14.4

But in case you didn't get to watch the game, I'll set the scene here from my perspective.

1:20.0

So six minutes left in the third quarter, Ant attacks the basket, thinks he gets filed, complains to the ref,

1:27.8

and the ref is probably a little bit too quick to the tech right there.

1:32.5

And then Ant kind of gets closer to the ref, keeps talking, doesn't cool off.

1:36.7

So the ref pops with a second technical.

1:39.1

He's ejected.

1:40.6

In my opinion, the ref shouldn't have called the first one.

1:52.0

And then when Ant continued to kind of come at him and keep talking, I think it's fair to give him a tech then. Clearly, I thought clearly it was too quick of a hook by the ref and that two technicals there were probably out of line.

2:06.9

But actually, before, because we got a lot more to talk about with the cat part of it,

2:11.0

let's do Finch's response here to that play where Ant got the technical.

2:15.0

And yeah, and then we'll get into the cat stuff.
