Central and Northern California that officials say was sparked by a lightning storm. Multiple homes

were destroyed in a historic gold rush town. Hundreds of families have been forced from their homes.

More than three dozen fires are burning across California.

Most have started this week and are part of a cluster of fires in Calaveras and Tuolome counties.
