Summary

In lesson 33 we continue to follow the story of Andrew and his Spanish friend María-José. In this episode we’ll be introducing the future tense and looking at how verbs are conjugated in the future. Once again, you’ll develop your knowledge and listening skills by listening to this conversation where language is used in context. Please note that lesson 33 of Season 2 was originally known as lesson 233 of Coffee Break Spanish. We have renumbered the lessons of each season as lessons 1-40 to make things more simple for our listeners.

0:00.0	We're going to be looking at a new tense. We're still with Andrew and Maria Jose. And they're going to be talking about birthdays. And within this context of birthdays we'll learn to conjugate the future tense.

0:37.0	So it seems that this week Andrew has been asked for his Spanish class to prepare a dialogue about birthdays.
0:44.0	So he's practicing with Maria Jose. And while you're listening to the dialogue I'd like you to try and pick out three pieces of information.
0:51.0	Firstly, when is Maria Jose's birthday? Secondly, what presents did she get at her most recent birthday? And finally, why can't Maria Jose celebrate Andrew's birthday with him?
1:05.0	When is your birthday?
1:11.0	And tell me, to celebrate your birthday, what do you like to do?
1:17.0	Normally, I like to see my family and friends. We eat a lot of birthday gifts and then I open my gifts.
1:28.0	What did you receive last year as a gift?
1:40.0	What's good?
1:43.0	When is your birthday?
1:54.0	I'm going to celebrate my birthday with my two friends. We don't have class and that's why we're going to the beach.
2:03.0	Today is a very hot day, you know?
2:06.0	Yes, I know, but we'll do very well. Do you want to come too?
2:12.0	I'm sorry, the week that comes I'll be in Sevilla for the wedding of my cousin.
2:19.0	Well, maybe another day?
2:21.0	Yes, I'll see Saturday that is the day 23, so we can go to the beach together on Sunday.
2:30.0	Perfecto.
2:32.0	So, Cara, did you pick up when Maria Jose's birthday is?
2:36.0	Yes, it was the 18th of March.
2:40.0	That's right, she said, my cumpleaños es el 18 de marzo.
2:44.0	Now, what presents did she get at her most recent birthday? I'll remain you of this just in case you forgot.
