You're the first person that we've had to ask to redo an interview.

Nick was halfway through interviewing you when his computer crashed, so we're doubly thankful for you speaking to us today. Could you begin by perhaps just telling us a little

bit about yourself? Okay. Kiyora, my name's Kathy. I come from Artiero, New Zealand. Been in Britain

five years until we recently working for the Church Mission Society now lecturing at

London School of Theology. And I guess my passion and interest is women and commission.

Yeah, well, I mean, that's the reason why we're speaking to you today, because some of our listeners

have noticed that the majority of our guests that come on the show to discuss mission have been men.

Now that certainly wasn't intentional on our part, but it seems the case that the majority of resources on mission, the books,

the teaching, the conference that we've been engaging with have been coming from men.

So we're wondering whether you could begin by giving us just some insight into the history of women's participation in mission so

that we can begin to understand why that might be the case.

Okay, well what got me interested in this was partly being a missionary wife, so to speak,

because my PhD research was on missionary wives to New Zealand in the 19th century.

And I was looking at the CMS register from the 19th century.

The first missionaries went out in the early 1800s.

And they were noted as Reverend Alfred Brown comma M.
