Summary

My good friend in London, UK - Fiona Ross, and I had a chance to catch up as we end the summer 2022 break. We chat about Women In Jazz Media ~ founded by Fiona, now with a 22 member female team, and publishing their fourth Women In Jazz Media high-quality digital magazine, with subscribers across the globe. Fiona Ross is a real joy to know, very caring and I am totally amazed at her multi-talented skills. She tends to rave on about new and upcoming musicians - constantly encouraging and supporting the younger generations. Fiona is constantly on the go. It’s like she has some secret access to NASA rocket fuel. In fact, I don’t think she’s actually ever stopped since she started in showbusiness at the age of 2-years old. Listen in and enjoy finding out about this really authentic, fascinating advocate of so....many people. Have a look at the Women In Jazz Media website and its social media links...Plus, her website - especially her BIO and see some of the well-known pop stars she’s had a hand in helping on the road to global fame. Please check out https://womeninjazzmedia.com/ and it’s many projects. Miss Fiona Ross, how are you doing today?

0:23.2

Hey, I'm fine, thank you, how are you?

0:26.7

I am very good, so we've been friends now for a while.

0:29.7

We first met through our friends at Jazz and Europe Magazine, our good friend Nigel, who is

0:35.4

also the editor for this podcast. And you've got a lot going on, as you always do, some people may

0:42.4

have seen our other episodes, some people maybe have not been introduced to you before. So you have

0:48.4

a great background, child actor, singer on the stage in the West End, journalist, musician,

0:56.2

artist, just so many hats, very successful artists, I should say.

1:01.8

So let's tell people a little bit about your background. How did you get started with music and

1:07.0

all that? I know it's a big story, but.

1:11.2

Yeah, I guess it was a big story. I think I have one of those crazy stage moms, so literally,

1:17.0

from the minute, I don't remember anything else, you know, so as soon as I was able to

1:21.0

walk my mum had me in dance lessons and acting lessons and seeing lessons. And she famously

1:26.8

kind of says that my first professional job was when I was two, so I've literally done it,

1:32.4

kind of, yeah, all my life. And I trained for the theatre, so I trained in dance drama and music.

1:39.6

So kind of I started learning the piano when I was six, but the stage was where the goal was

1:47.4

initially that was to be fair, my mum's my parents doing really, although I didn't ever object,

1:52.8

so don't get me wrong, I wasn't forced into anything. But theatre was kind of the goal,

1:57.9

and I did some of that, but then fell in love and got married and had children and then got divorced.

2:05.2

So my kind of, you know, working life changed a little bit and music became more of a focus,
