The Seattle-based Allen Institute for AI is getting a major cash infusion to build open-source

AI models for scientific research. Geekwire reports the National Science Foundation, Chipmaker

NVIDIA, will give $152 million to AI2, as the Institute is known. AI2 plans to release software along with the code and training data

used to build it. They say it will create transparent infrastructure researchers to use.

The 15th annual Seattle Design Festival kicks off this weekend, starting with a free block party

at Lake Union Park tonight. It'll feature interactive installations, performances,

and other hands-on activities. The block party continues tomorrow. On Sunday, the Seattle Storm

will unveil their statue of Basketball Hall of Famer Sue Bird outside Climate Pledge Arena. The

storm is the first franchise in WNBA history to unveil a statue of a former player.
