Summary

We're on our end of season 9 break right now, back with our season 10 premier on 13 September. To fill the gap, we've delved into our archives to bring you an episode that has resonated with us for one reason or another. This week it's Mark's turn. Before he plays the episode, he talks you through why he's dug this particular episode out and why he was inspired to cover it. ORIGINAL SYNOPSIS: This week, we take a deep dive into the life and death of Kim Jong-nam, the brother of North Korean dictator and all round nut job Kim Jong-un. Following an ill-feted trip to Disneyland in 2001, Jong-nam was ostracised from the family and exiled to Macau. Here, he led a relatively normal life, going about his business under a false name, passing information to the CIA, while occasionally speaking out against his brother's authoritarian rule over North Korea. But the clock was always ticking on Kim Jong-nam's life and in 2017, as he arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport to fly home to his wife and kids, he was executed in front of dozens of passengers. Join us as we shine a light on North Korea and take you, in real-time, to the very public assassination of Kim Jong-nam. This case has been inspired by 'Assassins' - a true crime documentary which is available in virtual cinemas and on demand now. For further information, head to www.assassins-film.co.uk.
