For our deep dive today, we are talking to Carrie Brownstein.

You might know her from her starring role in Port Landia, that award-winning show from

IFC.

She stars in the show with Fred Armason.

And how I describe it for folks that haven't watched it.

It is the social absurdist comedy that has this weird gooey center at its heart, and it

is a perfect send up of Portland and these archetypes of outlandish hipster characters.

One of the things you might not know about Carrie though, besides her work on Port Landia,

she has one headlined multiple all-female bands, most famously Slater Kinney, which played

a big part in the Riot Girl movement.

Carrie once had a music blog of her own at NPR music.

She's also been the executive producer of Port Landia since the very beginning.

So we talked about all of that and much more on the eve of Portlandia's last season

debuting.
