I mean I guess we can talk about Sunderland because it's all into Connected, isn't it?

United went to Sunderland last weekend and pulled off a narrow victory,

got Martin O'Neill the sack. Gotta say it provoked a question in my mind.

What exactly was it that the Sunderland board expected from playing the best team in the

Premier League the team that's 15 points clear and and always beats them?

Yeah I mean I think in a way the fact that they always beat them means that the fixture sort of in a way

maybe they just wanted to sack him after that woeful, woeful performance against Norwich

and thought well we'll just get through the United game and then give him the sack but also the fact that

O'Neill looked so incredibly flat he just looks like he's had all the life sapped out of him and you know we

we talked about him quite a lot last week didn't we? The one thing we didn't mention which

really came as a surprise to me is he's 61 years old so it's not you know he

definitely is getting up there now isn't he? That is a surprise to me I didn't

realize he was that old either.

So you know you kind of think of O'Neill as a sort of young manager for some reason, but he obviously has been around for a really long time as a manager.

And I really hope this is not as his last job and I'm sure it won't be but I'd like to see him go out on a bit more of a high.

Right, well it's kind of prescient when he spent quite a long time last week talking about whether getting the sack at Sunderland would lead to his eventual demise as a manager and where he could go from here

I guess we both thought he'd probably get the sack in the summer rather than with eight games to go pretty I have to say given there is only eight games to go, pretty, I have to say, given that it is only eight games to go,

a really odd decision, because what exactly is it that the Southernland Board expects that they're going to get now?
