| 0:35.5 | atmosphere and while that's been rough on the planet there has been at least one |
| 0:39.1 | beneficiary. Plants. Well plants, I, they eat CO2 for breakfast, right? |
| 0:44.8 | And lunch and dinner and high tea. |
| 0:46.6 | That's right. |
| 0:47.6 | So as all of our smart listeners already know, plants suck in watering carbon dioxide and |
| 0:51.8 | through light energy from the sun they use |
| 0:53.7 | photosynthesis to turn it all into energy. |
| 0:56.2 | Right, CO2 and water and sun that's like an all you can eat buffet for trees. |
| 1:00.3 | I guess plants must be loving this huge increase in CO2, huh? |
| 1:04.0 | Yep. Before the Industrial Revolution, there were about 280 parts per million of |
| 1:08.9 | carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. That means that for every million particles in our air, 280 of them were |
| 1:14.8 | carbon dioxide. Now we're over 400 parts per million, right? Nearing 420. Yikes. |
| 1:21.2 | Yeah, so check this out. Since about 1982, researchers have found that plants have added so much leaf cover it could cover the entire continental United States twice. |
