Welcome back to the Dershow. I don't usually talk a lot about culture or about films or

other such things, but last night my wife and I were treated to see an unbelievable movie

that none of you can see. None of you can see. It's been banned. It's been censored. I got

a chance to see it because I met the producer and I told him how upset I was that I couldn't

see this film and he sent me a copy of it to watch. But the film has been banned in America,

even though it may be one of the greatest films of the of the century. It's a film called Jacques

Hughes, which is about the false accusation against a French general named Albert Dreyfus.

At the end of the 19th century, the beginning of the 20th century, it was a formative case. It

brought down the French government. It damaged the French church. It damaged the French

military. And it also contributed to the creation of the State of Israel because

Theodore Herzl was a journalist. The young journalist covering the case and he saw the rampant

anti-Semitism in France. The driver was Jewish, not a practicing Jew, and it's simulated Jew.

But because he was Jewish, they made a scapegoat at him and they accused him of being a spy

for the Germans. I'm hoping maybe this podcast and others will get you to be able to see the

shows. Maybe I won't tell you the ending. But the movie is fantastic. It's in French. But I got it

with English subtitles and it stars great French, great French actors. I'm a student of the

Dreyfus case. I actually own an original copy of Jacques Hughes as it appeared in the newspaper in

19, whatever. And I've studied it and I've taught it and I've written about it. So for me,

I've just always wanted to see this film. And every time I go to YouTube or any of the other things,

it says not available in your area or not available in the United States or not yet available

in the United States. So of course I did some research and checked. And sure enough, it's been

canceled. It's been censored. Not because of the content of the film. The film is great,
