So there's so much in the news that I'd love to discuss with you, and particularly giving

your background as a federal prosecutor and your work on climate change.

But we're here because you've written a fantastic essay for us, which everyone listening should

read at Crooked.com.

And it's about how Democrats can and sort of must retool to rise to their current political

challenges.

So I'll try to weave in any breaking news where we can, but first just tell us a little

bit about the article and why you felt compelled to write it.

I'm tired of losing fights that we ought to win, and I'm tired of watching Republicans

win fights that they ought to lose.

I'm tired of seeing their side succeed with things where 30% of the public supports

them, and we quail when we have 70% public support.

I think there are differentiations between our side and theirs in terms of sheer force of

will, in terms of organization and planning, and I think we need to overcome those.
