The Lakers rightly felt good about themselves following Sunday's win over the Knicks at home, playing arguably their best defensive game of the season, holding one of the league's best offensive teams under 100 points. For a team that had struggled mightily to play good ball against good opposition, it was a significant win in ways going beyond the standings. Now the challenge is to build on it, as another Western Conference contender comes to town. With a win over Minnesota, the Lakers could put themselves back in the top four in the Western Conference, and go a little farther not just in quieting the critics, but also giving themselves the sort of confidence boost that, if we're all being honest, would be beneficial. Of course, who plays is a big question. LeBron James is listed as questionable, adding a bruised hip to his list of ailments. Whether he plays or not, the Lakers will need big nights from Austin Reaves, who has been excellent in two games against Minnesota this year, and also supporting players like Deandre Ayton.
