Let's start with immigration, because we're talking so much about immigration at the moment,

and with good reason.

More than 70% of voters think the Prime Minister is doing a bad job

with the whole issue of dealing with asylum seekers in hotels,

according to YuGov polling for the Times.

This follows a weekend of anti-immigration protests across the country. Alice, is the Prime Minister doing a bad job? Yes, I think that's plainly the case. I think he came in thinking that he could take a kind of law and order, sort of technocratic approach to this problem. And I think what he's missing here is the principle of deterrence. I think it's all very well to improve the

asylum system. It seems to be making some sensible changes and closing down routes of appeal.

But ultimately the problem is that Britain being as we are a peaceful and prosperous country

is simply too attractive to economic migrants. I think you need to have some way of breaking

the link between coming here illegally and getting asylum. And I think he
