Summary

In this podcast episode, Sarajane discusses her upcoming routine as school starts and reflects on her recent trip to Washington DC for an incubator. She talks about her excitement for her child starting sixth grade and taking on the responsibility of packing their own lunch. Sarajane shares her practice of focusing on the present day and treating it as the only day that exists, which helps her prioritize and manage stress. She also explores the concept of setting goals based on personal values rather than solely pursuing happiness. -- Thank you to this week’s podcast sponsor: Get started with EveryPlate for just $1.49 per meal by going to EveryPlate.com/podcast and entering code egram49. True did you well. I am home. I'm here for like almost two weeks, so I'm going to get into a

0:20.4

little bit of a routine. I'm pretty excited about it, which is good timing because school starts

0:27.1

tomorrow. So as I'm recording this, tomorrow is the first day of school and the whole family is

0:33.1

getting back on a routine. This is really the first summer where we had no routine at all. Like

0:41.4

normally I'm a little bit stressed about keeping the kid on a routine so that schools less of an

0:47.8

adjustment. We also normally do summer camp like day camp and this is the first year where we haven't

0:54.4

done that and we've traveled a lot and we've just kind of been all over the place and I'm a little

1:01.2

I'm a little like oh no we we should have prepped the kiddo more but at the same time like we

1:09.2

have 50-50 custody and so every other week we are with the kiddo so like normally like if our

1:18.0

kiddo was thus full time last week I would have started like getting back into the routine

1:23.9

but they weren't at our house. So it's just kind of like a little bit of limitation there

1:28.9

but at the same time I mean we're just I'm so excited to get back into the school mode and to get

1:33.6

into things. I just think it's fun. I love back to school season. I did when I was like like

1:40.2

kid going to school it always felt like a fresh start like everything was new and clean and I

1:50.3

I was always a really good starter you know in the seven like the first month of school I was like

1:56.0

an A plus student. It would like slowly decline as the semester went on but I always started off

2:03.4

really strong and I loved that that time which brings me to my three good things for this week.

2:11.5

The first one is I'm setting our kiddo up to pack their own lunch this year. They're going into

2:18.3

sixth grade it's just time they they want to still be packing lunch but it's time for them to

2:24.4

pack their own and I am so excited about it because I've created like a little system for them
