Okay, so, can reason tell us anything about God? The answer I'll propose tonight is this. Yes,

although it's not easy. But I'll present even that qualified answer in a qualified way.

The topic is terrifically difficult and complicated, and it can't be treated properly in such a short time. I will

focus mostly on the question of using philosophy to know about God's existence, saying

rather less about using philosophy to know about God's nature. And I won't claim to do more

than provide an initial look. Since this talk is organized

by the Tomasistic Institute, you won't be surprised to hear that I'll be presenting things

in a way that jives with St. Thomas Aquinas' approach. But I won't be doing that because I was

invited by the Tomistic Institute. I'll be doing it because I was invited by the Timistic Institute.

I'll be doing it because I think it makes good sense.

Here's the order I'll be presenting things in.

Here comes the outline.

First, I'll give a brief sense of what philosophy is in the first place.

Second, I'll give brief discussions of reasons for believing in God other than philosophical argumentation.

Third, I'll discuss the idea of believing in God on the basis of philosophical argumentation.

Fourth, I'll briefly look at objections to God's existence.

Fifth, I'll consider the following question. If we have used philosophy to overcome objections to God's existence

and to provide philosophical reasons for believing in God,

what comes next, philosophically speaking.

And sixth, I'll point out the limitations of philosophy when it comes to God, and then

I'll be done.
