And I'm somewhat surprised that's the case, given how frequently I make the drive into California

from my home here in Southern Nevada.

Late night drivers of the 101 freeway in Agora Hills, California have been dealing with construction of late.

That's because crews are busy building the largest wildlife crossing in the world.

The project began in April with the first girders being laid over the eight-lane freeway just outside Los Angeles,

all with the goal of preserving the local mountain lion population

while making driving safer for everyone in the area. After years of work, erecting the first

horizontal section of the 210 foot long crossing was an historic moment for the National Wildlife

Federation, the Caltrans Highway Department, and many private and public partners.
