Today we are talking about AB 5 again.

Yes, California and its Uber law and how it applies to you and your small

business and maybe you're just curious. Either way we're going to jump right in.

So, last time we talked about AB 5, California's, you know, Uber laws, they're calling it in the media,

and how it applied to YouTube creators and creatives and why it kind of screwed

over that group of people because it basically took everybody that was working as an independent

contractor and said,

oh, as of January 1st, 2020, you're now an employee.

And we all know that when you, as a business owner,

are hiring employees, it can be a 20 to 30 percent overhead increase, and you know that as

an independent contractor you have some flexibility and tax benefits that you do not get

when you're categorized as an employee.

One of the options we talked about there

was starting your own business and having it

be a legitimate business to business arrangement

versus working as an independent contractor. business arrangement

but mis-independent contractors is a problem and it is something that businesses can be fined for.
