This is CBS Eye on the World with John Bachelor. Here's John Bachelor.

Watching California, the State of California possesses a governor, Gavin Newsom, who is

0:19.7

extremely powerful in the Democratic Party, and a likely presidential candidate in the

0:24.9

future. Bill Whalen of the Hoover Institution joins me. He's a research fellow.

0:30.2

He's also the host of several significant podcasts. Goodfellas is the one I recommend

0:35.6

immediately. A TV show, a podcast, and a video. His conversation with his colleagues, but right

1:34.0

in a moment to notice. And so, you know, this is what Newsom is about. And so as we look at Bill

1:38.2

signing period right now in California, the governor receives a bill and he or she has 30 days to

1:42.8

sign it or not. The governor does not sign it and it becomes automatically long. So the governor

1:47.6

has to make a decision and this falls into several categories as I wrote about it in the column.

1:51.8

There are issues that are just politically troublesome for a governor puts him in a spot between

1:56.8

donors and what's sensible policy-wise. There are certain bills that are kind of embarrassing for
