Hey, it's Ryan Holiday. Welcome to another episode of the Daily Stoke. Here we are at the end of

0:43.5

2020. What a year, man.

0:46.9

Feels like what's the joke? 2020 has been the longest decade of my life. I saw another meme this morning that was like

0:53.4

March is three months away. I still haven't recovered from from last March, but here we are.

0:59.4

And the end of the year, a lot has happened. We have created a lot here at DailyStoke. So I wanted to do kind of a best of

1:07.4

interview. One of the upsides of the pandemic for me was like we really got serious about the podcast.

1:12.4

Since I wasn't doing events, there's a way to kind of have an ongoing conversation and

1:17.4

a way to connect with people. Everyone else was home. So it was easy to record stuff. So here are chunks of three of the best

1:24.4

interviews I think I did this year. Certainly three of the most popular. Talking to Cal Newport, one of my

1:30.4

favorite writers, his book Deep Work, Super Info-Influent, she'll be one of my favorite people. He's a great friend. He and I talk about

1:38.4

that it's not huge amounts of hours that necessarily get great work done, but you know great systems, great practices in real

1:46.4

focus. Funny enough, like I've been obviously working during the pandemic, but it's really sort of totally re-oriented my

1:53.4

schedule. And I think in some ways I'm putting in less hours, but getting more output because I am so focused.

2:00.4

Jocco Willink, one of the most inspiring, intimidating people on the planet. His book Discipline Equals Freedom is very good.

2:08.4

My son loves his book The Way of the Warrior Kid, The Diagonomy of Leadership, Extreme Ownership, Jocco and Navy Seal, and all around badass.

2:17.4

He and I talk about like what the perfect day is. That was something I was curious to talk to him about. What is the ideal day look like for Jocco?

2:24.4

I've written about this before. I've described my morning routine in daily stoke a million times. So I won't bother you, but I am curious about Jocco's daily routine.

2:31.4

So that's in there. And then Tim Ferris and I talked at the very beginning of the pandemic. Tim was very serious about COVID very early.
