California's Attorney General Rob Bonta has said President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary

Pete Hegssef, quote, unlawfully federized 2,000 of California's National Guard troops

to calm the protests in Los Angeles, and said the state will sue the Trump administration

over the move. Here's what Bonta said in a news conference today on the order.

An order that abused the federal government's authority and violated the Tenth Amendment

and federal law.

An order that skipped over multiple, rational, common sense, strategic steps that should have been deployed to quell unrest

and prevent escalation.

As a result, I, in partnership with Governor Gavin Newsom, are suing President Trump and asking

the court to set aside the president's unlawful action, federalizing the California National Guard.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Northern Command announced today it has, quote,

activated about 700 Marines to help protect federal personnel and property in the Los Angeles area.

That's according to a statement by the agency.
