An esteemed politician in the Senate?

A challenge to all of California to find a successor.

That now becomes a local story, California, and a national story, given the ambitions of the governor, Mr. Newsom.

Good evening, John. Well, there's a saying about the Senate that there are two kinds of senators.

There are workhorses and showhorses and Diane Feinstein was the former and not the latter.

She very quietly went about her business, was very much about trying to get consensus.

I'm really doing heavy lifting. I worked for California, governor of the 90s, John,

who would go to Washington quite often because this is a very contentious time between California and federal government.

I remember looking as a tenor in DC and there was always a meeting with Diane Feinstein because there was some sort of piece of legislation

that he needed to get done and he could count on her to at least entertain it to work with it and maybe get it done.
