It's been another busy week. I feel like I say at the start of every podcast that it's been another busy week, but this week has particularly been pretty frantic and we're now, just as we're

coming on to record this

finding out the details of the prime minister's advisor or ministerial interest lord geite his

reasons for resigning but let's go back to the start of the week and this might be linked

the government announced their proposals to disrupt the northern island protocol so

adam where kind of are we now on that kind of process?

Yeah, it's been a week, hasn't it?

I was just saying that before coming on.

But then again, I think we say that towards the end of every week.

Yeah, so I guess this week kicked off with something we've been expecting for a few weeks.

But I think the actual content of the Northern Ireland

Protocol legislation took most people by surprise just by how hard and sort of full fat

the sort of a full fat approach taken by government so obviously the government for a few

weeks has said that after 18 months of negotiations

with the EU, we're not really getting anywhere in terms of changing have Northern Ireland

Protocol works.

Their argument being that at the moment, it's too intrusive into the lives of Northern Irish business and it poses a threat to

unionist sense of belonging in the United Kingdom.
