All right, listen up. The focus of this lesson is Google.

And also, it's a verb to Google.

It is a verb now. So surely you've used the most popular search engine in the world, Google. Since its introduction

to the public in the late 90s, Google is like the go-to site on the internet, right?

Definitely. If you have a question that no one seems to have the answer to, Google it.

Exactly. Google has now become a verb, as you just heard, to Google means to search for

on Google. Did you know that Google handles nearly 200 million searches every day?

Insanity. How did you figure that out? Well, I Googled it. Seriously, but why do you think it

attracts so many users?

I think it's got a really simple design and the results are really good.

It's got a lot of information without any of the added, like, graphical clutter that a lot of the other search engines have.

Yeah, it actually produces results for searches using a special algorithm or

mathematical formula to rank sites based on how frequently those sites are linked to. It gives

pretty strong and relevant results. Google could probably be considered one of the most

powerful tools on the internet. Think of it as like

an index for the web. Everything that's on the web can probably be found through Google.

And Google, the company, also owns or operates many other web-based applications, like the blogging

site, blogger.com, and the Google Reader Utility, which allows you to keep track of the blogs and new sites you visit most all in one place.

And on a less serious note, I know more than a few people who use Google as a kind of a social tool.
