0:33.8

I first read this book because it was endorsed by Phil Jackson, the coach of the Chicago Bulls and the coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. I want to make sure that the listeners get this.

Michael Jordan was really, really good. Do you remember watching the Bulls? Did you ever watch those in the Chicago Bulls? Yeah, were you a Michael Jordan fan? Yeah, I mean, I want to be like Mike.

0:54.0

We're I'm seriously, where were you a fan? As a kid. I mean, yeah, I just know overall fan. I was a jazz fan back in the day when he put them down.

0:59.6

You were a jazz like the Utah. Yes. Seriously, I had a Utah jazz. That was my favorite team. I had a starter jacket. That was my favorite team. Why? I don't know. I honestly don't have any idea. The pick and roll. No, I didn't like. I think I liked playing with them and Malone and Stockton and Hornasek on like NBA jams. Can I sell you on why I was a jazz fan? Yeah, I want to hear it. Carl Malone was the hardest working athlete in professional sports. Like he was absolutely. He was absolutely the most

physically fit athlete. Like on the professional basketball court. I mean, he was a big old dude. He was a guy who was absolutely committed to physical fitness. And at the time of my life, I worked out all the time. And so I used to read all these magazines about Carl Malone and his workout routine. And so I actually did the Carl Malone workouts and it was like, I mean, he was, I was a huge fan of his, but that dude was a big dude. I mean, look at this. You're chill. I'll put him on the screen here. Look how big he was. I know. It's freaking sick.

1:59.1

That guy was awesome. And then John Stockton was a guy who really was a small guy who really, there's no reason he should be in the NBA. I mean, John Stockton was a very, very small guy, but he was able to play in the NBA at a very, very high level. Right. And it wasn't because he's a genius. It's because the guy, uh, he's all NBA Hall of Famer, but he was like a very, very six foot one. Right.

2:24.5

He's six foot one. I mean, the guy was playing the NBA and he was a very, very hard worker. And so I love that team, super consistent, super diligent guy. Right.

2:33.5

But I was read about Phil Jackson and Phil Jackson explains that he endorses the 48 laws of power. And Michael Jordan won six NBA championships when Phil Jackson was his coach.

2:44.5

And and Kobe Bryant won five would fill Jackson was his coach. I want to make sure you understand this. Michael Jordan didn't play six seasons. Right.

2:55.5

The only six seasons that he won a championship. Phil Jackson was his coach. When Phil Jackson wasn't his coach. He didn't win championships. When Phil Jackson wasn't Kobe Bryant's coach. He didn't win championships. Although he was Kobe Bryant was a great player. He never won without Phil Jackson.

And so I thought, well, gosh, if this book allows somebody to learn how to get the most other teammates, I absolutely have to read this book. And so that's why I read the book. And it absolutely had a profound impact on me.

3:24.9

And then I read it. I read probably I was probably through about 10 laws. It's a 550 page books. I'm probably 50 pages in. And I realized, gosh, I just disagree with like half of it. This kind of hurts.

3:37.9

But it's not agreeing with the laws that just understanding these are certain principles that are being used all around you by people who want to have success and to produce a powerful, they want to have a powerful existence.

3:51.9

They want to earn money at all costs. They view business as a means to an end. So chop, read us law 43 and the notable court of all that corresponds with it. All right, law number 43 work on the hearts and minds of others.

4:05.9

So he goes on to say coercion creates a reaction that will eventually work against you. You must seduce others into wanting to move in your direction. A person you have seduced becomes your loyal pawn.

4:16.9

And the way to seduce others is to operate on their individual psychologies and weaknesses, soften up the resistant by working on their emotions, playing on what they hold dear and what they fear, ignore the hearts and minds of others and they will grow to hate you.

4:30.9

So I do agree that when you ignore the hearts and minds of others, they will grow to hate you.

4:37.9

So this is something that I struggle with and you guys is a thrive nation. You can go out there and judge and you can decide whether I'm whether you agree with what I'm saying or not.

4:47.9

Growing up, I stuttered a lot as a kid. All right. So what I would do as a way to deal with the pain of people making fun of me is I would just spend a lot of time by myself, like a huge amount of time by myself.
