Welcome to the Treatment. I'm Elvis Mitchell. There's not much to be said about my guest,

Burke Bacharach, except he has composed from the finest film

and theatrical scores in history, and has gone from doing ballads to, has a new album at this time

that I think uses the seductive power of the ballot to make some really interesting and

important social points. He is sitting right here at the piano, Bird, Backrock. It's my thrill of having me here.

And Tony O.K. and I wrote the lyrics together. It's the first time that I've ever written lyrics.

I had a part in writing lyrics.

The music came melody, harmonically, where it was going.

And I get a certain part in the way.

I said, what do I hear?

Do I hear an oboe?

A trumpets.

No, I hear like a vocal observation, whether it's eight bars,

of an anonymous chorus, three singers, no harmony, unison, making a statement.

The dray drum loops were very interesting. He gave me seven drum loops three years ago,

to see what you can do with him.
