Hey friends, welcome back. I hope you guys are having a wonderful day. It's such a gift to be able to share time together to jump into a podcast with Gary Thomas. Gary Thomas has written a book recently called Making Your Marriage a Fortress. And in that book, he talks a ton about stories from marriages who have endured really hard things. Hard things don't

0:23.7

have to destroy your marriage. They can be a place of growing more intimate, more deeply connected,

0:30.1

pushing through hard to get to a place of strength where your marriage can actually be a place of

0:36.3

refuge and a fortress. I love that.

0:38.1

I loved our conversation.

0:39.2

He's a godly man and he's a kind man.

0:42.8

And you can just feel that in his conversation today and how he shared so many stories of marriages who have endured.

0:50.8

Okay, Mr. Gary Thomas, thank you so much for joining us again.

Yeah, well, I just feel like you're a wealth of wisdom. And just

1:12.1

because you stand on the solid rock of Christ and his word, and you're so connected with the

1:17.1

stories of people. And I feel like one thing I've really appreciated about your wisdom over the

1:22.3

years, and specifically in the last year that I've been reading more of your recent books

1:27.0

and really been able to share

1:27.9

them here is that you're so connected to the struggles that we all have in real life. And so that's

1:34.7

where we're going today in this topic is how do we navigate hard things that come our way

1:40.3

and not get washed out by the storms, but stay anchored in truth and in intimacy with God

1:47.8

and with each other, because that's the key, right, is connection. And before we go any further,

1:53.8

I'd love if I could take a second to pray. Absolutely. Okay, Jesus, thank you that you are our rock,

1:59.8

that when we're overwhelmed, we can look to the rock that is higher than us, that you are our eternal refuge, and you teach us what it looks like to walk as a refuge to one another as we love and seek to be loved in vulnerable seasons and strong seasons and everything in between. I just thank you for my brother Gary that you have called him and anointed him.
