Author of A-Sand-book, which just won the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award and was long listed

for the National Book Award, but awards aside.

We're happy to have her here because, as everyone knows,

poets take our greatest heart aches

and weave them into something beautiful, something useful, some kind of magic, or medicine.

You're standing beneath the high mist, wearing your morning cloak. It's black silk, heavy on your shoulders.

Head bowed, heart choked with grief.

You gaze at the three cups, knocked to the ground before you. The red wine and the white mix and bleed into the dry earth. Their sweetness lost to you forever.

Behind you, the river gurgles and gushes towards a stone bridge.

The bridge that leads you home.

But you don't see it.
