The man Brian Coburger's defense is counting to prove that he wasn't at the scene of the Idaho student murders.

He's a retired cop whose phone mapping analysis has faced scrutiny in previous cases where a Colorado judge raised concerns

about its reliability. The individual Cyray is a key part of the alibi that suggests

Koberger was driving in rural Washington and Idaho, not brutally murdering for students in their home.

So let's break this down.

Before we talk about what he's claiming in the Koeberger case, we need to talk about the

concerns that have been raised about the prior work of his.

And this is in no way trying to say that he's not good at his job or that

he doesn't have credentials. He does. He certainly does. But some of those things have been

questioned by a judge in court before. So we're going to talk about just some of those facts.

This is very likely a good guy trying to do what he

believes in with the technology that he also believes in. But what needs to be done, as a judge

had ruled in a previous case, there needs to be a little more insight and openness about how this technology works,

about the oversight of it, its credibility and the accountability that it faces in scrutiny.

So let's look into that just a little bit in these concerns about his prior work,

because it's not subtle.
