Thank you for having me. Good to be with you. Thanks for coming on the show. Thank you for letting him into your house. My pleasure. Fascinating story. But first we'll promote your book straight away. with my guests to get more of a bit of understanding about you, Darrow, where you grew up,

how it all began. Sure. Well, I'm age 67. I'll soon be 68. And I was born in Chicago. My parents are from Virginia.

And I was a child of parents in the U.S. Foreign Service. I grew up as an American embassy kid.

I began traveling all over the world, beginning at the age of three with my parents.

I was born in 1958, so that would be 1961. And so my first, well, how it works is you get assigned

to a foreign country by the U.S. State Department for two years with the American Embassy. And then at the end of the assignment,

you return home here to the States. You may be here for a few months, maybe even a year,

and then you get reassigned to another country abroad. So back and forth, back and forth were the

formative years of my life. My first introduction to school was overseas in a foreign country. I did kindergarten,

first grade, third grade, fifth grade, seventh grade, all in different schools in different

countries. So now that being my first introduction to school, that became my baseline for what school

is supposed to be. The interesting thing was

this, that I had no idea. I thought it was the norm. Overseas, when I went to school, my classmates

were from all over the world, because anybody who had an embassy from their country stationed
