In this special holiday episode, Brian shares two meaningful Thanksgiving traditions his family has been practicing to help them shift the focus back to gratitude. 0:22.9	holiday of the entire year, bar none. Yeah, I like Christmas. Christmas is great, but Christmas
0:28.0	has also been overly commercialized. It's a day that you just spend time thinking about
0:34.3	consumerism and materialism and whatever, whatever, and, you know, celebrating
0:38.5	Santa.
0:38.9	I like Santa.
0:39.5	Sam's not a bad guy.
0:40.8	But the spiritual roots of Christmas are harder for me to attain to, harder for me to keep
0:45.9	focused on, then Thanksgiving is.
0:47.8	Thanksgiving is just one of those holidays that kind of the world has not gone after.
0:52.6	It's because our world isn't really into gratitude.
0:55.5	Our world is into criticism and criticism. Criticism and cynicism doesn't live hand in hand with
1:00.8	thanksgiving. So today I'm going to try to help you get into an aggressive mindset of gratitude,
1:07.7	an attitude of gratitude. Long before you sit down around a table,
1:12.6	Thanksgiving is a choice you make first in your mind.
1:16.6	Gratitude is choosing to see the world around you as a gift,
1:20.6	and pausing long enough to say, thank you.
1:23.6	Our culture is one of entitlement.
1:25.6	We move at lightning speed, we don't have time to acknowledge or appreciate others, and
1:31.0	that makes gratitude a countercultural move.
1:34.6	And whenever something is countercultural, you're not naturally going to do it, and therefore
