So I saw a headline yesterday and I just had to comment.

It was our current mayor of London saying that he thought we faced a quote unquote existential crisis due to COVID.

He also went on to say that he was having a hard time sleeping at night, wondering if commuters would ever come back to his city.

And on the same note, he pleaded with the government

not to go back to the old curfew system

if and when we come out of lockdown.

Now, let me just frame this for you.

This is an elected official who runs this city of nine million

people that not only wanted the lockdown, not only predicted the lockdown, he crusaded to lock

London down. He crusaded for our lockdown last time before the national lockdown.

This is for a guy who's charged

with looking after the livelihood of everyone in this city.

And everyone I spoke to on my show

from hospitality owners to tourism, people in the business,

to people in the theater business,

to taxi drivers all said, Brian, we want to find a way to keep London

working. And I said, I know, and I know we can, the science shows we can. And yet our elected

mayor was trying to shut our own city down. And it didn't make sense to me. For a while,

I thought, why would the man charged with running the city whose own metric has gotta be economic growth

or one of them try to shut his own city down?

It's like he's sabotaging himself.

It's like he's ruining the one thing that can,
