I bet back in March of this year,

you would have never, ever imagined

that the entire country of Britain

would be locked down for Christmas.

Would never have crossed our mind.

Back in March, it was for two weeks only

just to protect the NHS. And yet

the streets of London are empty and soon the streets of the entire country will be empty.

Because our prime minister has decided that a lockdown is the only solution to stop the spread

of the new mutant virus.

And this all came about at yet another hastily arranged

Saturday afternoon press conference flanked by his

sage scientific advisors, Mr. Whitty and Mr. Valance,

as they told us of the new strain

and the only solution being increased lockdowns.

And yet most of the Sage Committee

is really formed of social scientists, not actually scientists.

And as the former Prime Minister, Theresa May, said,

in Parliament, just a month ago,

it seems that the data doesn't determine policy.

It seems that they go ahead and choose the policy

and then go find the data to back it up.
