Super Bowl winning coach and not the one that people would have thought it might be.

Bill Belichick, no.

Pete Carroll, yes.

And it's fitting because Brady, Tom Brady, heard of him, minority owner of the Raiders,

guy who's been in charge of the search.

Maybe he thinks he owes Pete Carroll one

because one of those six Super Bowl rings

he won in New England,

kind of a dotted line back to Pete Carroll's decision

to pass not run at the goal line

in Super Bowl 49.

But look, when you consider the candidates that the

Raiders had on their radar screen, once Ben Johnson goes to Chicago, the one name that

stands out is Pete Carroll. And I don't care that he's 73. The NFL's had an ageism problem for

a long time. We hear about, oh, we got to go young. We got to start fresh. We got to do this.

Look, you bring Pete Carroll's vast experience to the table. That relentless enthusiasm,

the gum chewing, jumping around on the field like he's half his age or younger, the experience

coaching the Jets, coaching the Patriots, coaching USC, turning that team around in the nine years he was there.
