And Chris, defense, defense, defense, name of the game for the Chiefs through their first three picks. You get a corner defensive lineman. Now it's an edge rusher. How do you like Ar Mason Thomas in Kansas City? I think it's an edge rusher how do you like our mason thomas

0:38.1

in kansas city i think it's an interesting fit uh it does not look like a normal type spags guy and i think

0:43.8

that's going to be very interesting to see how they use him uh i his arms aren't normal the normal

0:49.6

length that spags would normally go for you could say the same thing about peter woods as pick last night

0:54.0

so you know the defensive tackle position so it's going to be interesting to see how he's used in Kansas City and what they're expecting him to do. A lot of people had him pegged is more of a three-four outside linebacker. Chiefs are obviously a four-three defense. How's that going to play into it? But this also kind of shows that maybe Spags is kind of changing the way he does things

1:14.2

and the way he's looking at players because he's going to have to sign off on this pick.

1:18.3

And if he's willing to go give this guy a chance, I think it's a lot better.

1:22.2

Don't forget Kansas City had a young pass rusher and Josh Usher, who they traded for and then really didn't

1:28.7

use. Not saying R. Mason Thomas is the same, but it's kind of a similar situation in a way.

1:34.9

Now, when you look at where Kansas City's defense was at the beginning of the night on Thursday

1:38.7

versus where they are now with three really talented defenders, how much do you think

1:43.3

they've improved that unit, especially after losing some guys over the course of the offseason? I think they've improved it a lot. The big question is going to be, can they get the pass rush? And that was why I was expecting, you know, when they went and got Delane, I was expecting that that was going to be an edge rusher because they absolutely needed edge rush. Now you get that guy at 40. can he come in there and give them, you know, five to six sacks as a rookie? Can he come in there and give them, you know, you know, 20, 25, 30 pressure, something like that early on in his career. If he can do that, that really helps his defense. But you have a shutdown type corner in Delane now and now you add Peter Woods who is good against the

2:19.6

pass and against the run and can spell Chris Jones at times so you have to think that you know between

2:25.6

Tonga who they added in free agency Omar Norman Locke coming back and Peter Woods you have some

2:31.7

defensive tackles there that can actually help you in the pass rush other than just Chris Jones. So Chris Jones doesn't have to do it all. He's getting up there in age. So it would be better if he could take some time a few more snaps off. And now you add an edge rusher to get after the passer. And that's something that desperately need. They need to be getting after the passer more effectively. And if they could do that, I think that this defense is going to be a lot of fun to watch. Is offense in the cards here for Kansas City at all with their next election? Do you think they quadruple down on defense? I think it's going to depend on the board is, but it's so far away. I mean, you're talking about pick 109 right now, unless they make a move and they have two thirds next year they have

3:09.2

you know an extra that extra pick next year so you have to wonder is is are they going to look and

3:14.5

maybe moving up i can't imagine they do that but uh you know i would say that offense has to be
